About The Gathering Place St Athan

The Gathering Place is a Methodist Church and Community Centre situated in St Athan. It was built in 2009, with the aim of providing both a church and a community centre in one place. St Athan is situated in the rural Vale of Glamorgan. It is close to the small towns of Llantwit Major and Cowbridge.

Whether you wish to have a safe place to bring your baby, toddler or child to play and take part in a variety of activities, book the hall for a party or wedding, learn along with the adult education courses, create with our sewing group or train with one of our fitness groups then we have something for all. We also have an active Methodist Church each Sunday.

We have a variety of clubs at the Gathering Place including Brownies, Guides, Rainbows, Karate, Zumba, Sequence Dancing, Line Dancing and Slimming World.

We have a large hall that can split in half, one large meeting room and one smaller meeting room. We also have a day centre run by Hafod. Our kitchen is also available for use by all groups.

The Gathering Place is a modern venue, and can be transformed to suit a wide variety of activities and events.

Sunday Service

The building is also a Methodist Church with services held every Sunday morning from 9.30, with tea and coffee afterwards.

The Gathering Place is a great versatile building. Not only is it a Methodist Church but also a Community Centre that offers a huge amount of space for a variety of occasions. We have a weekly offering of activities and can hire the rooms out for many different purpose.

The halls and rooms can be booked out for Children’s Parties, one off events and as Meeting rooms.

Lunch Club

Our new lunch club aims to bring older people from St Athan and surrounding areas together to enjoy a hot nutritious meal and socialise with friends at the same time.

The meal is just one part of the lunchtime experience – It’s a social occasion as much as it is a nutritional one.

Do you know anyone who would benefit from joining us? Please let them know.

Important Information...

As you all will be aware, we are currently experiencing a situation unlike that known before - Covid19, also known as the Coronavirus.

In order to keep our congregation, staff and those who run and enjoy the groups and classes here at the Gathering Place, safe, we have taken the decision to close our doors for a short time, or until it is deemed safe by our government and Church, to open to the community again.

If you have any questions, or would like to get in touch, please contact our Centre Manager, Beverly Prangley on thegatheringplacestathan@gmail.com

Many Thanks & Stay Safe
